Practicing The Pause

In today's fast paced world where important decisions sometimes are made hastily, things don't turn out the way we want. Try to "practice the pause" and see how your life can change day by day, hour by hour

Here’s a quick 30-second “practice the pause” meditation.

Soften your eyes and say each phrase to yourself, pausing between each phrase to take the words in:

  1. I am releasing all tension from my mind. I am relaxing the muscles in my body.

  2. My mind is calm, my body is at peace. I do not need to allow negative thoughts to enter my mind.

  3. I will deal with life as it comes; I don’t have to worry about it all right now.

  4. I can instead focus on the peace my life offers.

  5. I’m taking the time to find gratitude. This relieves my stress.

How do you feel? Take a moment to write down three words that describe what you are feeling. Use those words to examine the experience you just had.

Enter back into the present moment, taking the revelations you just experienced with you as a talisman throughout the hustle and bustle. I guarantee, the more you ‘practice the pause,’ the next time a stressful decision arises, a cocoon will swiftly emerge to protect you from the discomfort, and you will be able to make decisions with clarity and ease.
